This service is available to anyone.
It is designed to encourage you to seek legal advice early, before your problems become complicated and expensive.
It takes the worry out of looking for a lawyer.
How It Works
You can call the Lawyer Referral Service at 1-800-240-9798 or 892-0853 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday to Thursday.
- Explain briefly the type of problem you have. The Service will give you the name of a lawyer.
- You arrange an appointment with the lawyers. Give the lawyer your referral number. The lawyer will give you an interview of up to 45 minutes at a nominal charge of $25.00 plus P.S.T. and G.S.T.
- The lawyer will tell you whether he/she thinks you have a legal problem, what is involved, how long it should take to solve the problem, and about how much it will cost.
Some lawyers are willing to communicate in French. Indicate your language preference to us when you call.
Community Legal Information Association of P.E.I. and The Prince Edward Island Law Society do not have a mechanism for testing the lawyer's special skills and so we do not make any representations as to these skills. The Lawyer Referral Service is not legal aid. The telephone number for Legal Aid is in the telephone directory.
