For non-profit organizations there is one critical, and complex, question: To be or not to be a charity? Now a new online program, the To Be or Not to Be a Charity Decision Tree, has been developed by the Legal Information Society of Nova Scotia (LISNS) to help in the decision-making process. The tree will help your group decide whether charitable registration would truly benefit you, whether your group would be willing and able to meet the obligations involved, and whether your application for charitable status would likely be approved.
